Every March 17 thousands of people fill the pubs and clubs of Liverpool to celebrate all things Ireland.

This St Patrick’s Day is expected to be busier than usual, with both the Liverpool Half-Marathon and Liverpool match happening on the day.

Below are just some of the festivities happening across the city.

Parades
The eighth St Patrick’s Day parade will begin at 12:30 pm outside the Old Irish Centre building on Mount Pleasant and will move off at 1 pm.
Many bands will be attending the parade, which the organisers expect to be the biggest parade they have had in years.
An after-party event follows the parade at Tonight Josephine’s Bar on Hanover Street.

McCooley’s
The Concert Square bar will be open from 8 am until 6 am, hosting back-to-back live music from 10 am until 10 pm, followed by a DJ until 6 am.

PINS Social Club
PINS on Duke Street will be hosting various events throughout the weekend from their rooftop. Ranging from live entertainment, DJs, runway shows, bottomless brunch and even a bottomless Guinness.

Shenanigans
Boasting the best Guinness in Liverpool, Shenanigans on Tithebarn Street is open from 8 am until 2 am. The pub is taking walk-ins only and is hosting live music between 12 pm and 9 pm.

Bongo’s Bingo
Bongo’s will be hosting a student-only event at the Guid of Students on Mount Pleasant.
With many prizes to be won, Bongo’s will be playing some of the best in Irish music from B*Witched to U2, The Corrs and Enya. Fancy dress is encouraged, and they have asked people to go above and beyond with their costume ideas.
