Tik-Tok has been flooded with yellow hearts and sunflower emojis, in memory of social media star Leah Smith.

The trend, ‘Turning Tik-Tok yellow for Leah’ has gone viral across the platform, with fans posting comments and videos featuring the yellow emojis which Leah loved to use in her own videos.

A post published by Leah’s family thanked her followers for their overwhelming support: “[We] can’t thank everyone enough for turning every social media platform yellow.

“If only she could’ve known how much she touched the world in so many ways!”.

Leah Smith, 22, died on Monday morning, March 11. She was suffering with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer affecting bones and soft tissue.

The young star, originally from Woolton, was first diagnosed in October 2019 after experiencing back-ache which she later found out was due to cancer.

She became a Tik-Tok sensation, sharing her hospital visits and treatment updates with the world, and amassed up to half a million followers.

Her boyfriend, Andrew, shared the tragic news of her death with her followers on her page.

He said: “I’m sad to say she passed away today at around half 11 this morning.

“We will all miss Leah, but we will make sure we never forget her.

“I want to see everyone speaking about Leah and how amazing she is.”
