Policing students from LJMU took a trip to the Emergency Services Training Centre in Wallasey yesterday to undergo a series of scenarios to test their real-life skills and to learn more about how their in-class studies can be applied to the real world.

Nick Healy, a policing lecturer at Liverpool John Moores, organised the event for the students, who took part in three scenarios.

They investigated a burning building and subsequently put out the fire, then assessed a firearms incident whilst having to look for clues, and rescued an injured member of the public as well as rescuing someone from a confined space.

A team of LJMU student journalists went with the policing students to chronicle the day and discover what went on behind the scenes at training days such as these.
