Police have issued an appeal for any information regarding reports of gun shots fired on Delamore Street, Walton.

The incident happened yesterday afternoon, Tuesday.

At 1:55pm officers were informed of a group of men fighting on the street and witnesses confirmed that gun shots were fired.

Police say that two men fled towards the alleyway side of Delamore Street and the others fled to Cairo Street.

Investigations are now under way, and house to house and CCTV enquiries are ongoing.

DS Peter McCullough said: “Any shots fired in a residential area have the potential to cause devastation.

“Such reckless and violent behaviour will not be tolerated on our streets.

“Our investigation is still in the very early stages as we seek to establish what took place yesterday afternoon.

“Nobody has come forward to report they were injured.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area of Delamore Street at around 2pm on Tuesday who saw, heard or videoed anything suspicious to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.”

Anyone who has information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 23000151963.
