“Liam joined my cabinet earlier this year- he is intelligent, hard-working and committed to the people of Liverpool. I am confident he will make an excellent leader.”

Liverpool Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram said:  “Massive congratulations! Liam is a team player who has been an invaluable help to me at the Combined Authority. Look forward to working with him, the Mayor and Labour Group to deliver for Liverpool and the wider city region.”

Paula Barker, Liverpool’s MP for Wavertree, said: Congratulations ⁦⁦@liamrobinson24 on being elected leader of Liverpool Labour. I look forward to working with you to deliver for the people of our city. Commiserations to Ruth Bennett & @CllrLizParsons”.

Mayor Anderson will continue in her role until May’s elections when she will leave the council altogether. For Cllr Robinson, his main focus will be on Labour’s campaign for the May elections.
