Two men have been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in Halewood.

Detectives were called to an incident in Beechwood Avenue on Friday where Jordan Brophy was rushed to hospital but later died of his injuries.

Karl Townsend, 31, and Jamie Cunningham, 22, who are both from Halewood, are charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

Police had also arrested four other men in connection with the murder in the last few days.

A statement from Merseyside Police confirmed that a 62-year-old man has been bailed and a 36-year-old man remains in custody while a 26-year-old man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

One man has been released without charge.
