Excitement is building for the first nightclub event to take place in the UK in over a year with the line up announced as tickets go on sale.

The nightclub event is coming to Liverpool on Friday April 30 and Saturday May 1.

Club night ‘Circus’ will be hosting ‘The First Dance’ as part of the national Events Research programme (ERP).

The event will see 6,000 clubbers across two nights admitted into Bramley-Moore Dock warehouse.

The event will require no social distancing or face coverings.

All partygoers must have a negative Covid-19 test 24 hours before entry.

Circus Founder and DJ Yousef said: “Together with the team at Liverpool City Council, we have safely crafted these events together, with a singular focus to help the UK get closer to life beyond Covid, which for myself and Circus has been a great honour.”

Today (Wednesday April 21), tickets will be on sale exclusively to those who have pre-registered.

Any remaining tickets will go on general sale from TicketQuarter on Thursday, April 22 from 9am. Tickets are from £32.50. Only one ticket can be purchased per person.

Doors will open from 2pm and guests can expect to see dance music icons like Fatboy Slim, Sven Väth.

Because it is part of a scientific experiment, tickets can only be purchased by Liverpool City Region residents.

Liverpool’s director of Public Health, Matt Ashton said: “Thanks to promoters such as Circus, we are going to be able to gather vitally important scientific research which will provide a blueprint to opening up vital sectors of our economy locally and nationally.

“Events are an important part of the wellbeing, social fabric and economies of communities, particularly in Liverpool and there should bean enormous sense of pride that this city is taking a national lead in this hugely important research programme.”

Scientists are piloting several high-profile national events, with the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield and the League and FA cup final all hosting at least some fans.

In Liverpool, the good business festival on April 28, Sefton Parks pilot music festival on May 2, and Luna Cinema on the Waterfront from May 14 – May 16, are all events for the study.
