Seven people have been arrested in connection with drug offences in Merseyside and Cumbria.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man from Runcorn and a 34-year-old woman from Anfield on Wednesday March 10 on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

The arrests were made following a pre-planned vehicle stop in the Kirkby area.

Officers also executed warrants at addresses in Cumbria, Runcorn, Anfield and Kirkby.

Five further arrests were made on suspicion of drugs offences:

• A 23-year-old man from Kirkby – Conspiracy to supply Class A
• A 19-year-old man from Wavertree – Possession with intent to supply
• A 17-year-old from Kirkby – Possession with intent to supply
• Two men from Cumbria, aged 31 and 34  – Conspiracy to supply Class A

The suspects are being questioned by Merseyside Police.

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton: “We work with partners in other forces to trace those responsible and help those who may be exploited by these organised criminal gangs.”
