Parents from Beacon Primary School say more safety measures need to be put in place, after a car ploughed into an empty classroom.
The incident happened yesterday at around half eight in the morning. No children were injured and the school remained closed for the rest of the day.
A woman was arrested on suspicion of drug driving in connection with the incident and has since been released under investigation.
A video circulating on TikTok, shows a white Mercedes driving straight into the nursery room.
Mum of two, Liz, who’s daughter was meant to be in that room, was shocked but relieved that no one was hurt.
We spoke to some parents who shared concerns of not having a safe place to drop off their kids, with three schools in the surrounding area nearby roads are liable to being busy.
One mum said: “Sometimes the patrol has to scream for people to slow down, when your crossing with your kids people are in such a rush.”
A parent who has raised her concerns with the primary school about the busy road said: “It’s so dangerous with the three schools together, I have always worried about that.”
In a statement from Local MP for Liverpool Walton, Dan Carden says:
“I am in contact with the police following the car collision with The Beacon Primary School. It is a huge relief that no schoolchildren were hurt.
My team and I are here to support the school community and will be working with the local authority and local councillors to make sure that parents’ concerns about dangerous driving near the school are addressed.”
