What has been going on in Merseyside?

Sport:

Runcorn born Luke Littler has taken his spotlight in the darts scene.

He is the youngest player to have won a match and the World Darts Championships, at aged 16, and is the current PDC World Youth Champion.

On the latest football news, LFC manager, Jurgen Klopp, is soon leaving the club along with his coaching team due to suspected health issues.

He thanks fans for his support, as he gives and emotional farewell.

Weather:

Two storms hit the country in January.

Isha and Jocelyn, both came over Merseyside causing flight delays, train cancellations and fallen trees with wind recorded at 80mph.

Weather warnings were issued across the country.

Culture:

Liverpool is in the list of world’s best cities.

The city was placed seventh in the table, as it is still holding praise from hosting Eurovision last May.

Designer dupes are appearing in popular local stores, including in Marks and Spencer and H&M with likes of Fendi, Gucci, and Balenciaga.

Luxe collective, a Formby founded second-hand designer company appeared on Dragons Den.

With expertise in designer products, the brothers, Ben and Joe Gallagher, the pair set up “Real vs Fake” challenge on Paradise street Saturday 27 January.

Ben Gallagher said: “it’s about celebrating authenticity and connecting with our incredible community. We can’t wait to meet our followers, share stories, and make this a memorable day in our home city.”

Politics and Business:

Has the UK fallen into a technical recession? There is allegedly a ‘Good chance’, as the cost of living crisis continues and inflation rate rises.

An early general election could be on the line, as attempts to have Rishi Sunak ousted by an unknown party has been kick-started.

Labour is in commanding position, holding 45% support.

Events:

Multiple fires have occurred across the Merseyside region merely over the past few weeks.

Arrowe Park Hospital, situated in the Wirral, experienced a fire on 29th January.

It has been confirmed that safety protocols were followed by staff members, with evacuations and ventilation – taming the fire to prevent further risk.

A fire on Fox Street, however, overtook the city with smoke with a huge blaze on Saturday 27 January – watch the incident on TikTok here:

Worries of the building collapsing were high, as all four storeys were engulfed in flames.

No casualties have been reported.
