Liverpool head south tomorrow night to take on lead-leaders Arsenal in a bid to keep their top-four hopes alive.

The Reds, who are unbeaten in nine games, will be hoping to end their run of consecutive draws against Leeds and Fulham which Arne Slot sees as “two draws too many”.

Slot believes that tomorrow’s fixture is not only a good test for the team, but also a chance to build confidence ahead of the FA Cup’s start this weekend.

He said: “These are knockout games; games where you can face teams like Arsenal so it is an important game for us to see where we are in a one-off game.”

He continued: “If you win games like these, it tells you that you can compete in the latter stages of the FA Cup and the Champions League.

“We’ve shown that we can do this already because we have already beaten Arsenal at home, and I can also come up with many other games that we’ve won against many other strong teams.”

Liverpool are without Mohammed Salah (due to AFCON), with Hugo Ekitike still a doubt after being ‘in-between’ sessions all week.

This could pave the way for Rio Ngumoha to gain more minutes after a promising cameo last time out.

After beating Arsenal 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season, Liverpool fans will be cautiously optimistic when the ball gets rolling at 8pm.
