Epstein Theatre, the historic venue on Hanover Street, is celebrating a landmark achievement of taking £100,000 in ticket sales for various shows taking place on the iconic stage.

The theatre has reported selling more than 5,000 tickets to theatre-goers since the building was re-opened three months ago.

The Grade II listed landmark had closed for two years previously, when it was acquired by a new management team alongside a £1m investment. The investment allowed for extensive refurbishment including new stage lighting, sound and improving the backstage areas.

The theatre’s bar has also been remodelled – with a full line-up of music and comedy events at the bar on non-show days to be announced soon.

Targets for ticket sales have been exceeded for every show on sale so far, including hugely popular monthly show ‘Dancing in Aisles’, billed as a three-hour long performance of pure entertainment.

Additionally, an extra date for ‘Something About Lennon’ was added at the venue due to demand – taking place on Sunday July 6 – fronted by West End star Daniel Taylor. This is also expected to sell out.

Epstein Theatre is also premiering a brand-new Beatles’ musical titled ‘Shake It Up Baby!’ staring Andrew Schofield – for which tickets are also selling fast.

Anthony Proctor, Epstein Theatre General Manager, said: “Reaching £100,000 in ticket sales in 14 weeks is phenomenal. And we’ve smashed targets across the board.

“It shows how much the venue is needed in Liverpool and the demand that’s there from theatregoers who are desperate to see fantastic shows.

“I’m very proud of the programme of live music, comedy and drama we’ve developed for the theatre’s opening season, including the return of some Liverpool favourites and of course the world premiere of a new Beatles musical!”
