Yoko Ono Lennon, a long-time supporter of the University of Liverpool, has made a donation via Spirit Foundations to the Tung Auditorium’s Lunchtime Concert Series.
Spirit Foundations is a charitable foundation set up by Yoko and John Lennon in 1978 as a way to support various charities around the globe.
The donation has ensured that the free concerts will be able to continue for the next three years.
The series will also be going by a new name when it begins in September – the Yoko Ono Lennon Lunchtime Concert Series – in honour of her recent contribution.
The first concert of this series will launch on Wednesday September 24 with a performance by rising local artist Remée, presented in a partnership with BlackFest. The free concerts will also be part of the wider Tung Auditorium’s autumn/winter 2025 season.
The Tung Auditorium is located in the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre at the University of Liverpool.

A spokesperson for Spirit Foundations said: “It gives us great pleasure to know the popular Lunchtime Concert Series will continue.
“By supporting this series, it is our hope that audiences from all backgrounds will continue to experience the joy, inspiration and sense of unity that live music brings.
“The fact that these concerts remain free and accessible makes this support especially meaningful.”
