The multi-million selling rock act T’Pau are playing a homecoming gig at Hangar 34 on Friday.
Following the release of ‘Be Wonderful’- the group’s first album in over a decade- T’Pau are embarking on a national tour, performing in Liverpool on April 24th.
The band’s iconic lead singer, Carol Decker, was born in Liverpool and grew up here until the age of 7.
Speaking to Mersey News Live, she said: “I love going back to Liverpool: I’m a Huyton girl!”
She added: “It’s a fantastic city and there’s something very special about it- there always has been.”
T’Pau enjoyed huge global success in the 1980’s with hits including ‘China In Your Hand’- which spent five weeks at UK No.1 in 1987 – and ‘Heart and Soul’- which reached No. 4 in both the UK and US single charts.
On helping to provide the soundtrack to such a distinctive decade, Carol told MerseyNewsLive: “As the years go by, it means more and more.
“On the tour at the moment, on a nightly basis, I’m getting told by fans how much various songs meant to them.”
After originally splitting in 1991, Carol and fellow founder member, Ronnie Rogers, reunited in 2013, and T’Pau have been a regular feature on the live circuit ever since.
During the recording of ‘Be Wonderful’, Carol and Ronnie had control of every aspect of recording and production, something she says reminds her of the early days of the band.

She said: “We do everything in house, which means we have to be really creative like we were in the early days when we were starting out.”
‘Be Wonderful’ released on April 10, with their UK headline tour already underway.
