The hit BBC drama ‘This City is Ours’ is continuing filming across Liverpool.

Film crews were seen today on Holmefield Avenue, Aigburth.

It is not thought that any of the main actors were present throughout the day’s filming.

On the impact of filming in the area, one local resident said: “A lot of stuff gets filmed, obviously, in London so it’s always good when something comes up in Liverpool.”

The resident went on to say: “For kids and teens who maybe want to get into the creative field, it’s good they know this is happening in the city.”

This comes after filming took place in South Liverpool yesterday for Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics, set to release in 2028.

Paul Mescal could be seen as Sir Paul McCartney on the iconic Menlove Road, with Leanne Best playing Sir Paul’s Aunt Mimi.

This City is Ours was released last year to both critical and public acclaim.

The show stars Scouser, James Nelson-Joyce as Michael, a member of an organised crime group who falls in love with Diana (Hannah Onslow) prompting him to re-evaluate his life.

Another local resident spoke to MerseyNewsLive about the representation of Liverpool on the show, they said: “It shows the city’s more sensitive side.

“Obviously there is the crime element which some people may interpret as negative, but overall I think it’s good.”

Season 2 of the show is set to release later this year.
