The River of Light held its 8th event this year with the theme The Science of Light.

The event has 10 art installations along the Royal Albert Docks all combining different lights and technology to create a pattern.

Amigo & Amigo have two pieces of art, Dandelion and Pendulum, at the waterfront this year, after having artwork previously displayed for the experience.

Simone Shaw, director of Amigo & Amigo, said Dandelion was inspired by the process of blowing the petals from the plant of the same name.

She said: “The one thing about a dandelion is that it’s a universal symbol of play.”

“It has this really nice ethereal quality of wishing, dreams, hope and creativity,” she added.

Beamhacker’s artwork Embrace is on display at their first River of Light.

Josh McAuliffe, founder of Beamhacker, said: “I really wanted to touch on the core ideas that make humanity, which community, connection and society in general.”

He spoke about adapting his artwork to fit events and how he changed it for the River of Light.

He said: “I’m going to introduce more blue, light blue and dark blue, to go with the River of Light theme.”

The event finishes Sunday 2nd November and runs from 5pm to 9pm.
