Europe’s biggest festival of Indian classical arts will be taking place from Friday onwards in iconic venues throughout Liverpool.
‘INDIKA’ will bring 15 days of concerts, dance and culture to Liverpool city region with venues such as Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room, the Everyman the Tung Auditorium hosting events.
Milap, which has run the festival since 2012, aims to create a space for everyone to feel inspired, moved and connected.
A spokesperson for the organisation, which is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year, said: “This year’s INDIKA feels especially meaningful, as a celebration of how far we’ve come and a statement of where we’re headed; it’s a reflection of everything we believe Indian arts can be.”
Featured at the festival are artists including dance artist Sanjukta Sinha, funk and folk group The Tapi Project, and musicians Anil Srinivasan and Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh, collaborating on their innovative project The Stringmasters.

The programme states: “With Diwali falling on 20th October this year, our Diwali celebrations will feature as a centrepiece of this year’s INDIKA.”
It also promises a multi-sensory experience aiming to bring people together through culture and promises music, food and storytelling from across India.
Sahaja Yoga sessions will be held at Liverpool Central Library as a part of this event from 6–7.30pm on Monday, 20th & 27th October.
Manchester venues including Bundobust will also be holding events as a part of the festival of Indian culture.
More information about the festival, which will run from the 17th – 31st October, including booking information for each event, can be found on the MILAP website.
