A new sustainable shop has opened in Liverpool.
Fripp held an opening party on the 18th of September and in a short period of time has gained huge popularity.
The shop sells ‘dead’ stock from fast fashion brands including coats, shoes and dresses. It’s an expansion of Pop Boutique, the vintage shops stock was overflowing so they decided to open Fripp.
Fripp opening has given the opportunity for staff in Pop Boutique to move up in their retail jobs, such as 28-year-old Alannah Winn-Taylor.
Winn-Taylor, who is originally from Surrey, worked in Pop Boutique for 3 years, before becoming Fripp’s assistant manager.

She spoke about how Fripp has been doing in the short period of opening their doors and said:
“We really have enjoyed opening, it’s been nearly two weeks now and it’s been going well.”
She explained how the shop is less of a vintage store and concentrates more so on not letting ‘dead’ stock go to landfill.
“We’re basically Vinted but in person, more of a sort of American style thrift store than you would find around here, the cheaper cousin of Pop Boutique.”

This is one of the many sustainable clothing shops joining Bold Street, with Cow just down the road and The Oxfam recently reopening after a refurbishment.
Alannah emphasised the importance of shopping as ethically and sustainably as possible,
“I think it’s really important we get more of these second hand stores and sustainable shops everywhere, not just bold street but I think we have enough clothes.
Buying from shops who sell fast fashion ‘dead’ stock can help save tonnes of textiles from landfill, so Liverpool retailers are doing their part to save the planet!
