
Three Liverpool businesses have been fined a total of £165,000 for employing illegal workers, as part of a wider Home Office crackdown across the UK.
Blade Barbers on St John’s Road was fined £40,000 after one illegal worker was found. Capital Auto Wash, which operates at Liverpool ONE’s Q-Park, received a £80,000 penalty for employing two individuals without the proper documentation. Meanwhile, Aram Supermarket on London Road was issued a £45,000 fine for employing one illegal worker.

In addition, Portofino Italiana, a restaurant in New Brighton, Wirral, was recently fined £180,000, one of the highest penalties issued, for similar offences.
The government’s operation, called a Plan for Change, has already issued 489 fines worth around £29m.
The nationwide investigation is aimed at cracking down on undocumented workers hired by employers at every level.
Blade Barbers, Capital Auto Wash and Aram Supermarket have yet to comment on the penalties.
