Jeanine Murtagh, a 54-year-old office manager from St Helens, turned heads on her way to Royal Ascot after being crowned the best-dressed passenger aboard the luxury Northern Belle train – all while wearing a second-hand designer dress.
The second-hand dress was found on Vinted after she needed an outfit for her Daughter’s wedding. “Even second-hand it was still expensive,” Jeanine admitted “but it was worth every penny.”
Her stylish outfit, complete with fascinator, earned her a bottle of champagne on the 1930s Pullman-style train journey to Ladies’ Day. “It was a wonderful surprise – the icing on the cake of a wonderful day out with my husband Nick,” she said. “We even saw the King and Queen during the Royal Procession and backed a couple of winners.”
Train Director of Food and Beverages Brian Clark said Jeanine’s look had the perfect balance to be a showstopper. “She absolutely sparkled, bringing elegance, flair, and just the right amount of fabulous to the grandstand.”
