A man has been jailed for firearms possession after police seized three weapons in Liverpool.

Michael Lyons, 33, from Kirkdale was sentenced to five years and five months in prison on Monday March 8 at Liverpool Crown Court.

Merseyside Police arrested Lyons in connection with three seized firearms in November 2020.

He had been forensically linked to a self-loading pistol, a stolen recovered army drill SA80 rifle and a Remington semi auto 12 gauge shotgun recovered by Police.

Detective Constable Natalie Charlesworth of Merseyside Police’s Firearms Investigation Team said: “It is pleasing to see that Lyons will be spending a significant length of time in prison and that three more dangerous weapons are off the streets.

“We will continue to take action to locate and seize firearms from the hands of those people, so that they cannot be used to cause fear, injury or worse.”

Gun crime can be reported to Merseyside Police, call 101 or CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
