An updated list of ancillary orders has been announced by the National Crime Agency to help prevent and deter further crime.
17 new orders have been added to the list to improve the support and management of serious offenders.
Ancillary orders detail the restrictions imposed upon criminals by the courts following a conviction.
These can include: Serious Crime Prevention Orders, Financial Reporting Orders and Travel Restriction Orders.
Failure to comply with these orders can result in a custodial sentence.
Alison Abbott, the Head of Lifetime Management at the NCA, said:
“Many career criminals regard prison as an interruption which rarely marks the end of their involvement in organised crime.
“Ancillary orders ensure we firmly have these individuals on our radar, especially after prison, and anything that suggests that they’re slipping into old ways can be detected early on.”
Common restrictions can include limited access to mobile phones and computers, as well as surrendering a passport and financial information.
Members of the public, businesses and law enforcement agencies can access the list, if they suspect an individual has breached their order.
