Students at Liverpool John Moores University are voting for their next student union officers, with polls closing tomorrow. Several candidates are standing for the role of Vice President of Education. MerseyNewsLive spoke to three of them about their priorities if elected.
The Vice President of Education role includes representing students on academic issues, including teaching quality, learning resources and student support across the university.
Candidates have been campaigning across campus throughout the week ahead of poll closure.

Candidate Izzy Hoyle says she wants students to have more opportunities to learn beyond their own course.
She said: “I want students to be able to access lectures from outside their course.”
Hoyle, who works as a note taker for students and often attends lectures across different courses, says the experience inspired one of her main manifesto ideas.
“We can just walk in, sit down and learn and I feel like that’s a resource that everyone should have access to.”
Candidate AJ McAiney says improving campus facilities and study spaces would be a priority.
“My manifesto points are things like making lockers on campus for commuter students and introducing a commuter lounge so people can utilise the space more.”
McAiney plans to continue the work of current Vice President of Education, Erin Gerard, in extending library opening times.
Candidate Ciara Benn says clearer guidance around artificial intelligence in education is needed.
“My first point is around AI usage, clear AI guidelines, because I feel like with a lot of modules there’s not really clear guidelines.”
Benn also says recorded lectures could help students who miss class.
“With this recorded lecture policy, if someone needs to go to work or they’re just having an off day, they can watch it.”
The full manifestos for all candidates running for Vice President of Education and other student officer roles are available on the JMSU website.
Students can vote online on the JMSU website by ranking their preferred candidates.
Voting closes tomorrow at 4PM.
