Liverpool City Council are planning to invest nearly £4 million into the Anfield area, particularly Walton Breck Road.
A decision is expected on Tuesday, 24th February, at next week’s Cabinet meeting.
The plan will focus on improving and investing in communal spaces, especially those for residents and businesses. Walton Breck Road is a key focus for the next phases of development.
One employee at Anfield, who didn’t want to be identified, said: “‘I think it’s a really good idea, as a woman using the area in dark winter, it’s making an area of high footfall safer for us to use, and I think it will make the area look even better.
“My only concern is that the construction means that the road will close, and for those of us using buses will have to walk from further away to get access to that area.”
Developments will include resurfaced carriageways and paths, improved crossings, better matchday traffic control, and new bus stop services.

The consultations from last year involved several participants, including Merseytravel and emergency services.
Councillor Nick Small, Cabinet Member for Growth and Economy, said: “We’ve listened closely to residents and businesses throughout this process, and we’re excited to move forward with plans that reflect their priorities and support Anfield’s continued growth.”
The local residents’ views have influenced the development of junctions, the schedule of construction, and parking arrangements.
Local business growth and affordable housing are set to be a focus in the many projects aimed at developing the local space.
