A bus in Speke has been damaged after a large stone was thrown by a group of youths.

The incident took place on Sunday, November 23, at around 6.40 pm whilst the bus was travelling through South Parade.

The stone, which was thrown whilst the bus was moving, smashed the glass door.

Sergeant Andy Finneran, from Merseyside Police TravelSafe team, said: “We are appalled by this anti-social behaviour which is unacceptable and thankfully no one was injured. To throw objects at moving vehicles puts lives at risk and this won’t be tolerated.

“We would like to reassure the Speke community that we are actively and robustly responding to the situation by putting proactive measures in place to prevent offences from taking place.

“This includes an increase in high-visibility police presence – both uniformed and plain clothes officers patrolling the area.”

He urged parents to be aware of where their children are and what they are doing with friends for their own safety and the welfare of other residents.

Enquiries into CCTV and witnesses are ongoing and Merseyside Police are appealing for any information about the criminal damage.

Any information or CCTV footage of the area can be reported on the Merseyside Police website, by calling 101 or via their social media desk: X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre reference 25000959977.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their website.
