
Liverpool can expect a large range of new musicals and shows coming to the Empire Theatre, including big West End names making appearances and family favourites making a return.
Michael Flatley’s internationally renowned dance troupe will return for a week in 2026 showcasing the ‘30 years of Standing Ovations Tour’. The most successful touring show in entertainment history will take to the Liverpool stage with all new choreography and costumes from 6th-10th October in 2026.
Family favourite Mrs Doubtfire takes the musical adaptation to the stage. Featuring everyone’s favourite heartfelt and hilarious moments from the 1983 classic with a few added musical numbers. The story follows a dad that will do anything for his kids even if that includes transforming into an elderly Scottish nanny to remain in their lives, this heartfelt moving stage adaptation will take place from 2nd– 13th March 2027.
Annie the beloved 1997 hit will return to The Empire from 22nd-26th September 2026. The story follows Annie a darling redheaded orphan who wins over grouchy businessman and millionaire Oscar ‘Daddy’ Warbucks after coming to stay with him the young orphan teaches him about love, life and family. Full of fun chorography, catchy songs and a heart warming story.
Legally Blonde staring Amber Davies. The former love islander and West End star takes the lead as Elle in the stage adaptation of the popular 2000s movie. Following ambitious Elle who’s determined to get into Harvard law school to win back the ‘love of her life’ Warner. The story is a heartfelt motivational piece about overcoming heartbreak and discovering your own potential. 14th-18th April 2026
Dirty Dancing is returning once more after its huge success. Set in 1983, it is the story of young ‘Baby’ falling in love with dance instructor Johnny on her family holiday to Kellermans resort much to her father’s distain. The romantic musical has all the movie adored tunes along with breath-taking choreography. You would not want to miss this high energy performance from 1st-5th September 2026.
Mamma Mia will also be featured in 2027. The feel-good musical features catchy songs a moving mother daughter relationship and a who’s who of three possible fathers all whilst taking place on a Greek island. The show is set to stun as always and will be a great addition to the stage. The show will be on for 3 whole weeks 8th December – 3rd January 2027.
The Magic of Mary Poppins, a British culture classic which will take centre stage between 14th-31st January 2026. In the West End the show received nightly standing ovations and excellent reviews. Featuring classic songs like ‘Jolly Holiday’ and ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’, it will be at the Empire from 14th-31st January 2026.
Moulin rouge is touring the world and will be stopping in Liverpool city centre From July 2nd to Saturday August 6th 2026. The award-winning show will dazzle as it celebrates 160 years on stage. Set in Paris 1899 it follows a passionate love story between a penniless American and a dazzling star of the Moulin rouge nightclub.
