Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram broke ground at a major new construction project that promises to bring new jobs and a multi-million pound boost to the region’s economy.

Atlantic Park, a 52-acre site that was formerly the site of the Rolls Royce Engineering Works,is under development by Royal London Asset Management Property and Winvic Construction. The £42m project that will feature offices, EV charging bays and large service yards.

A ceremony was held on Monday 22nd September to announce the start of the second phase of project after the £36m first phase was finished in June 2025.

Mr Rotheram said: “This is part of an overall strategy and that it is to try to improve and attract more people to come to the Region of Liverpool.”

He added the site “goes from Bootle in Salt and Tar right the way up to Bramley Moore and even further, with potentially a new town, if we get commission by the government.”

Once Atlantic Park has been fully constructed, Royal London has estimated that it will lead to a £62.9 million annual boost to the Liverpool City Region economy with £1.2 million in annual business rates due to Sefton Council.

The mayor said: “It’s going to be really good for local jobs, there will be 1,100 plus during the construction phase, but 140 permanent, just in phase one alone.”

The site is expected to be completed by next summer.
