A popular venue on Bold Street has closed its doors for good after 15 years of business.
LEAF, which was regarded as ‘one of Liverpool’s hospitality originators’, was opened by siblings Natalie and Graham Haywood in 2010.
The Bold Street venue was the first of five local ‘LEAF’ venues, which also includes LEAF Smithdown Road, Little Leaf, One Find Day and OH ME OH MY.
The venue became a cultural hub which has played host to thousands of live gigs, DJ sets, art events, weddings, parties, talks and more.
Alison Kay, the operational manager of the Bold Street venue said: “It’s been a really successful 15 years.
“The owners, they are brother and sister, and they have young families now, so they have taken the opportunity to sell the lease and slow down to spend more time with their families.
“Although it is really, really sad for us and the city, it is a positive news story as they’re independent business owners and they’ve been able to sell it on and make sure that they’ve got some security.”
She added: “We have been overwhelmed by the feedback and the comments on all of the social posts of just the impact it has had on people.
“Everyone has had so many special memories here – we’ve had people come in and say that they’ve met here and they’ve got married and have come back to say goodbye to the building.
“Bold Street is a really great street and it’s been great to have been apart of it for so long.”
The LEAF brand continues to operate at their remaining locations across the city.
