Leading independent race event organiser BTR Liverpool is gearing up for a memorable 2023 as they announce 12 running events for the year.
BTR Liverpool have branded their events this year as “30/20/10” as a way of celebrating three of their headline events reaching major milestones.
The “30” represents the BTR Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon hosting its 30th anniversary on Sunday March 26. Starting and finishing at Pier Head Liverpool, the 13.1 mile route stems from the Liverpool Cathedral to Sefton Park. To celebrate the anniversary, European sports brand 361º have partnered with BTR Liverpool to encourage participants to ‘do more’ this year.
The “20” marks the fact that the BTR Liverpool Santa Dash is back for its 20th birthday bash on Sunday December 3. Last year it attracted over 5,000 mini Santas.
The 5K fun run is accessible to all who wish to dress in red and walk, jog or run from Pier Head Liverpool to Liverpool Town Hall.
Finally, the “10” is because the 52-mile, BTR Tour of Merseyside starts its 10th anniversary on Sunday June 25. Six races of varying distances are staged across seven days and covers various areas of Merseyside including Southport, Thurstaston, Otterspool, and New Brighton.
The Merseyside-based organisation has been creating, managing and delivering running events in Liverpool City region since 2006, and has developed strong ties to the running community and local charities.
BTR Liverpool Race Director Alan Rothwell has been part of the running community since he began racing as a teenager and finished 42 marathons within a 25-year period, including running the London Marathon 22 times; the New York Marathon six times; as well as the Liverpool and Stockholm marathons.
Alan explained: “As we embark on our running adventure into 2023, there is fantastic alignment and synergy among three of our headline events – we have a great year ahead.
“It all starts on Sunday March 26 with the 30th BTR Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon – a brilliant race which takes in the landmarks of our incredible city set against the iconic backdrop and world-famous skyline.
“Whether you are starting a couch to 5K journey or are a seasoned distance runner looking for your next high octane challenge, BTR is looking forward to welcoming you to be part of our special year of celebration and achievement.”
