Merseyrail will be running a limited timetable starting from November 5 due to strikes conducted by Network Rail staff.

Strikes are scheduled nationwide, with those involved responsible for jobs such as signalling and maintenance under Network Rail. This results in a limited number of trains Merseyrail can operate.

The industrial action will be taking place on November 5, November 7 and November 9.

Services on the November 8 and November 10 will also be affected, with services instead beginning at 7:30am.

Hourly trains will be implemented across selected lines, from 7:30am until 6:30 in the evening to help passengers make essential journeys.

Trains from Ellesmere Port and Chester to Liverpool Central will instead start and terminate at Rock Ferry. There will also be no trains between Liverpool Central and Hunts Cross.

Merseyrail has no intention of implementing rail-replacement buses during this time. It is advised that anybody travelling on these dates make alternative arrangements.

Jane English, Acting Managing Director at Merseyrail, said: “Despite Merseyrail staff not being involved, unfortunately the national industrial action does have an impact on our network.

“We continue to work closely with Network Rail and our other partners to ensure that we can minimise disruption to our passengers.

“We would remind passengers that are travelling on November 5, November 7, or November 9 to plan their journeys in advance and that trains are likely to be very busy.

“We would ask that passengers allow for extra travelling time and be patient with us as we work hard to ensure we get everyone to where they need to be.”
