Merseyside Fire Service today reminded people about their safe haven boxes located at fire stations around the area for people who need help if they feel unsafe.
All the region’s fire stations have yellow phone boxes located on the outside of the buildings for people in need of help.
All @MerseyFire fire stations are Safe Havens & are available to anyone as a place of safety if they feel threatened or are in danger
If crews are out & you need immediate help, the yellow phone box will connect you to the emergency response control room#NationalHCAW #HCAW pic.twitter.com/FnpagMRFU0

The Wirral Safeguarding website explained how the safe havens work, saying: “All Fire Stations across Merseyside are designated Safe Havens for any members of the public, including children and young people who feel unsafe.
“Anyone who is feeling threatened, intimidated or at risk can go to any community fire station as a place of safety and support.
“The Safe Havens also provide individuals with the opportunity to report hate crime or domestic violence.
“If firefighters are not at the station help can be called for an emergency by using the yellow station phone.”
