Merseyside Police are appealing for information following reports of deliberately set fires at Crosby Beach on Sunday evening.
Reports that several large fires were reportedly set in sand dunes at Crosby beach were received at around 6:50 pm.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service went to the area and put out the fires.
There are no reports of any injuries being caused by the blaze.
Community Policing Inspector Duncan Swann said: “Starting fires deliberately in the manner we saw in Crosby last night is utterly irresponsible, putting our communities at risk and placing unnecessary strain on our already overstretched emergency services.”
“Thankfully the fire service extinguished the fire before anyone was harmed.
This reckless disregard for people and property is simply not acceptable in Merseyside.”
