Merseyrail has been awarded Best Performing Regional Rail Operator for the fourth year running.
The award is based on operational performance statistics, naming Merseyrail as the most punctual operator in the country.
Zoe Hands, Chief Operating Officer at Merseyrail, said: “It’s a real point of pride for our part of the country.”

Despite winning this award for the fourth consecutive year, Merseyrail have plans to further improve their rail service in the near future.
Work began yesterday on a new railway station at Headbolt Lane in Kirkby.
The ÂŁ80m scheme was granted planning permission on December 9 2021.
MetroMayor Steve Rotheram, said: “The new station is another step towards my ambition of building a London-style transport system.
“I want to make getting around as quick, cheap, clean and reliable wherever you live.”
The new station plans include; step-free access throughout the station, a bus interchange, cycle parking and approximately 300 park and ride spaces.
The station is expected to be in use by the end of Spring 2023.
Residents will have a chance to speak to members of the project team at a public drop-in next week.
This will take place on Thursday March 17, 4-7pm at Centre 63 on Old Hall Lane in Kirkby.
