A Halloween carnival with a difference is coming to Liverpool from this Saturday.
The annual Katumba Halloween Carnival ‘Roots and Routes-Festival of the African Diaspora’ is a jam-packed two-week spectacular celebration of African heritage held across the city.
The festival includes a variety of shows, performances and workshops for people to attend for free and begins at the Bombed-Out Church, St Luke’s at the top of Bold Street, with the opening event.
It then concludes two weeks later on Halloween with the Halloween carnival parade, held at Church Street and Liverpool One in the evening.

A spokesperson from St Luke’s told Mersey News Live about their excitement at hosting the festival after last year’s was postponed because of coronavirus restrictions.
“We are extremely excited for the event, after it was originally postponed due to COVID-19 last year and we cannot wait to welcome the team back for a fun filled evening of dance, music and art.
“Our garden bar and café will be open serving a range of drinks including our boozy hot chocolates.”

The carnival will be operating a booking system for workshops and smaller performances to avoid overcrowding.
Details can be found on the carnival’s website or tickets can be collected on the door if there is free space. However, the parade on Halloween is available to everyone – ticket free!
