A 13-year-old actress from the Wirral has made her on-screen debut in a major BBC drama filmed and set in Liverpool.
The role in high profile show The Cage marks a first professional acting job for Rose McDermott, and a significant milestone for the young performer who continues to balance school, sport and her emerging career.

The series features a high-profile cast, including Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha, with Rose playing Ruby, the daughter of Smith’s character.
Away from the screen, Rose is an active member of her local community. Alongside her studies, she is a keen footballer, playing for both Wirral and Wrexham teams.
She secured the role after being spotted at an acting workshop by her agency, Scream Management, marking her first professional job in the industry.
The Cage, created by BAFTA-nominated writer Tony Schumacher and directed by Al Mackay, was filmed across Liverpool and centres on two casino workers who discover they are both stealing from the same safe, pulling them into a dangerous criminal underworld.
Speaking about her experience, Rose said landing the role was something she will “cherish forever”, describing her time on set as “beyond anything I could have imagined”.
“The entire experience has been amazing. Working with such talented people and bringing Ruby to life has been a dream,” she said.

With The Cage both filmed and set in Liverpool, Rose’s casting adds a strong local connection to the production. Despite her early success, she remains firmly grounded in the Wirral, continuing her education and sporting commitments.
Her parents, Dave and Bev, said watching her take on the role had been one of their proudest moments.
“Her dedication and hard work throughout this process has been extraordinary. Seeing her perform alongside such experienced actors is something we will never forget,” they said.
