The finalists for Liverpool City Region Photo Awards 2025 have been revealed through a full exhibition at the Open Eye Gallery.
Three winners have been chosen for each of the six different categories, celebration, connecting, futures, shared spaces, movement and care.
Each category aims to tell a different story through unique snapshots presenting different factors of life such as LGBTQ+, the elderly in care and refugees and asylum seekers.
Nearly 2,000 photographs were entered into the awards, and all are being displayed on digital screens in the Digital Window Gallery around the Albert Dock museum.
Declan Connolly, the curator and lead for the Liverpool City Region Photo Awards, is the talent and design coordinator who looks after new talent and led the current show.
He said: “It’s the second time we have done this, the first time was in 2022, after we hosted the Sony world photography awards and people said, ‘where are all the scousers?’
“So we hosted our own awards and are celebrating fifty years of the six boroughs across the Liverpool city region.”
Opening on the November 27, the exhibition continues until January 11.
Connolly added: “The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority gave us money and helped us develop this which has been great.
“So, there are six categories, and there are at least three judges per category, one of which had an art background, one had an industry background and someone who was from the local area.
“The idea was that it wasn’t just going to be a fine art show, it’s going to be like the audience and the diversity of people who are expected to see the exhibition also judging it.”
