A man has been jailed for six years and two months after he strangled and assaulted a woman in St Helens.
Karl Wexler, 44, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, November 24, where he admitted to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and strangulation.
On Tuesday, January 21, Wexler assaulted a woman in her 40s at her home.
The woman did not sustain serious injuries and was able to file a report, leading the police to arrest the 44-year-old.
Detective Inspector Steven O’Neill said: “This was an appalling incident and it’s nothing short of miraculous that the woman didn’t sustain serious injuries.
“We recognise the profound impact that such abhorrent behaviour has on victims of domestic abuse, and thankfully Wexler will now spend time in prison for his shocking behaviour.”
