After the recent success of The Drunks and Joseph K, Off The Ground Theatre is set to return this May with a brand-new production.

Founded in 1994, the West Kirby-based theatre group has been captivating audiences across the UK and Europe with their productions for almost three decades.

From Shakespeare to Terry Prachett, the company has a diverse repertoire, constantly updating and evolving their shows.

Appearing at the Hope Street Theatre, Dario Fo’s “Accidental Death of an Anarchist” is a dark comedy classic, promising laughter and satire, holding a mirror to the complexities of modern policing, media and politics.

Inspired by the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing in Milan, the play follows a quick-witted and tricky character, ‘The Maniac’ who entangles local police in a web of manipulation and confusion through a plethora of dark yet hilarious disguises, tricks and mis-directions.

Fo’s drama exposes the absurdities and injustices within the system, creating a story as relevant today as it was in the 1970s.

This fast-paced and quicker-witted show runs from May 9-11, with tickets now on sale on the Hope Street Theatre website.

Adult tickets cost £12, £10 for concessions and under 21’s are £5.

Off the Ground Theatre champion access to drama and theatre for young people, often promoting from within their own youth theatre set up to their professional company.

Some of their tours include Sinbad, Around the World in 80 Days, Zorro and The Musketeers, played to audiences across the UK and Ireland.
