The last time I painted anything was when I was 14 – and it’s fair to say it showed when I took part in a “sip and paint” event at The Seven Bro7hers Beerhouse in Liverpool.

The company PopUp Painting was launched in April 2013 with a mission to bring art out of the classroom and gallery.

Running events across the UK, Popup Painting has hosted fun activities such as social painting and wine experiences in bars and restaurants.

This involves being guided step by step by a practicing artists.

To attend, you don’t need any painting experience … and I am direct proof of that. Even if you have never touched a paintbrush in your life, there’s no need to worry.

At the start of the event, we were asked who among us considered ourselves an artist – no hands were raised. Despite this, no one felt out of place.

The theme of the event was based around Annie Dalton’s Banksy-inspired Elephant painting.

The artists running the event – Alisha Friday and Eloise Green – helped contribute to the positive atmosphere.

The instructions were also very clear, breaking down such a complicated painting and this was reflected in the final painting at the end. However, it was more than that.

The relaxing music, drinks break and light-hearted banter meant everybody left in a good mood. It was the perfect start to a night out.
