People across Merseyside and Cheshire who are eligible for a spring COVID-19 vaccination are being urged to come forward before the seasonal programme comes to an end.
The NHS says Tuesday, June 30 is the last day for eligible residents to receive their spring booster, with appointments available through the national booking system, walk-in clinics or in the NHS app.
The vaccination is being offered to those:
- Aged 75 and over
- Residents living in care homes
- People aged six months to 74 years old with a weakened immune system who are at greater risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19
Despite the vaccine being the most effective defence against serious illness from COVID, less than half of the 350,939 eligible people in Cheshire and Merseyside have received their free dose.
Executive Clinical Director for NHS Cheshire and Merseyside, Dr Fiona Lemmens said: “Receiving the vaccine reduces the chances of getting seriously unwell.”
She added: “You don’t need to wait until you’re invited, if you are eligible, please come forward to top up your protection against the virus for the coming months.”
Walk-in clinics are available across Merseyside and Cheshire, alongside The Living Well Service, which provides vaccination support.
Online booking will close on Monday, June 29, however the last date for people to get their COVID-19 vaccine is June 30.
Anyone unsure whether they are eligible can check the guidance on the NHS website or contact their local GP.
