Liverpool was struck with a thick amount of snow during the weekend and followed with a yellow warning, which is still the case in some parts of Warrington.

The weather has made it suitable for people to sledge down hills, but it’s not all fun and games as people have been warned to watch the ice on the roads and pavements.

The Liverpool Met Office said: “Last night, the UK experienced it’s coldest night of winter so far with -13.3 Celsius in Loch Glascarnoch in Scotland.”

Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Frank Sauders, said: “icy stretches which develop overnight as a result of these showers, or the recent wet conditions, could bring some disruption to travel.”

In addition, the weather has affected the airports such as Liverpool John Lennon airport with a flight to Alicante taking 20 hours to leave the airport.

Get wrapped up and stay warm.
