Bauer Media Audio UK have chosen not to renew their lease on the St Johns Beacon – more commonly known as the Radio City Tower – after 24 years.

The Tower is currently home to Hits Radio Liverpool and Greatest Hits Radio Breakfast shows. It has also housed a great number of Bauer’s other stattions since 2000.

A spokesperson for Bauer Media said: “We are incredibly proud to have been part of the vibrant history of the Grade II listed St Johns Beacon.

“This next step allows us to invest in facilities that better support our vision and evolving needs.”

“The final shows from St Johns Beacon will air on Christmas Eve. Following this date, Greatest Hits Radio Breakfast will broadcast nationally from Bauer’s state-of-the-art Northwest hub, whilst Hits Radio Liverpool Breakfast will continue to broadcast from the city.”

Bauer Media continues to lease the iconic Radio City 96.7 signage and is in talks to change the sign to Hits Radio.
