Zoe’s Place in Liverpool is under threat

An open mic night has been announced at The Fly on Hardman Street in order to raise money for baby hospice Zoe’s Place which announced its closure last week.

Announced by creative group Cosy Kreations founders, Chels Hughes and Maileen Catherine, the event is set to take place on November 18.

Chels said: “Any performers, singers, anyone that performs spoken word in Liverpool can come to The Fly and perform.”

Zoe’s Place, a vital baby hospice throughout England has had a number of fundraisers pledged since its sad announcement last week.

Chels said: “Zoe’s Place is really close to my parents, I see first hand kind of the work that they do.”

She added: “Being from Liverpool myself and being able the impact that they have on these kids and knowing that it’s kind of the only charity like itself.”

Maileen said: “They were looking for donations recently, so that they don’t close down by the end of the year, we thought we’d try and help out and do our part.”

They have also planned a raffle, with donations from various local businesses.

Chels said: ‘We’ve had donations from Crosby Café, Pino and Picasso, Turtle Bay, News From Nowhere, Northwest and many others.”

Cosy Kreations itself is a creative outlet group that has hosted events before.

Maileen said: “A lot of our previous events have been more based with painting and artwork before.”

She added: “One of our aims at Cosy Kreations is to branch out and meet all different sectors of the creative industry, this includes music as well. So we were thinking how to bring a music event into Cosy Kreations.”

The founders are anticipating acts coming forward to perform at the event.

Maileen said: “So far we have a lot of people who have shown interest to us, but we’re unsure of how many people are going to actually be put on the setlist. Just to do with timings. But I think it will be a full house.”

Tickets are £2 and all proceeds will be going to Zoe’s Place.

Tickets can be bought here.
