Teachers at The Blue Coat school in Wavertree have voted almost unanimously in favour of industrial action following an ongoing dispute with the school leadership team.
The National Education Union (NEU) cites concerns related to transparency, accountability and leadership within the school as reasons why its members working at the school made the decision.
The school says they are disappointed that the NEU has taken this approach.
In a press release, NEU Regional Officer Bora Oktas said: “Despite our best efforts to engage in constructive dialogue, the employer has consistently shunned meaningful discussions, leaving our members with no choice but to escalate it to a formal ballot for industrial action.”
97% of National Education Union (NEU) members voted in favour of industrial action in a ballot with 100% turnout.
In response a Blue Coat spokesperson said: “While clearly there are things that our staff want to raise, and we want to work collaboratively with the Union to address, it is much harder to do this when the detail they are providing is very different from the information that we believe to be correct and accurate.”
There is no proposed date yet for the action.
