Renowned for its vibrant culture, rich history and city-life, Liverpool has been ranked as the seventh best city in the world.
The accolade was awarded by Time Out magazine after they quizzed thousands of people to rank their top cities.
Building on the successful hosting of Eurovision last year, Liverpool received an impressive 89pc approval rating for the affordability of its art and culture scene.
From lively streets, to bustling markets and a thriving nightlife, these factors affected the result with the city appealing to many respondents seeking vibrant city experiences.
The magazine said: “There’s more to Liverpool than Beatles tours and football matches. In fact, it’s one of the best places in the world to go for a guaranteed-good-time.
“The true city that never sleeps, spots such as 24 Kitchen Street, home to some of the city’s best DJs, or dive bars like Salt Dog Slims provide ample opportunities for late nights.’
This year, New York topped the outlet’s list of the world’s best cities for both its global appeal to tourists and nightlife culture, with Cape Town and Berlin running up.
Grace Beard, Travel Editor at Time Out said: “Our annual survey lets us keep a finger on the pulse of city-dwellers to create a global snapshot of city living right now.
“Every city that made the list did so because locals rate it highly – so whether a city ranked at one or fifty, it’s still one of the greatest amongst the thousands of cities around the globe.”
