The city is experiencing Mediterranean weather as Liverpool hits temperatures hotter than southern Spain.

Temperatures are expected to reach 26C today before falling steadily on Thursday and Friday.

We can expect it to stay dry with clear skies heading towards the weekend when temperatures are set to drop closer to the average April temperature of 12.2C.

Encouraged by the nice weather more people are going out, giving a welcome boost to local businesses. However it did mean staff were stuck inside, with bar manager Connah Chapman saying: “It is much busier than usual with a lot of people out enjoying the sun. It’s like Christmas where everybody has a present but you.”

NHS England has issued hot weather advice in response to the mini-heatwave. Dr Tim Caroe, Medical Director, Primary Care Transformation for NHS England South East said: “We advise people to keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm. If you are going to do a physical activity, for example exercise or walking the dog, plan to do these during times of the day when it is cooler such as the morning or evening.”
