Police are investigating after an 11-year-old girl brought a kitchen knife to a Merseyside primary school.

Officers are investigating after a report was made that a pupil at Lingham Primary School in Moreton, Wirral had brought in a kitchen knife last Tuesday 25th March.

The knife has been found and no injuries have been reported, with safeguarding measures put into place by the police force.

The police were first alerted to the incident at around 2.20pm on Tuesday 25th March.

Wirral Local Policing Chief Inspector Dave Morgan said: “We understand the concern that such incidents can cause, especially at one of our junior schools.

“Officers will remain in liaison with the school and our partners to offer reassurance to pupils, parents, carers and staff alike.”

Merseyside Police have appealed for more information around young people in possession of offensive weapons.
