A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing.

Officers were called to a property on Wavertree Road, Edge Hill, on Monday morning following a report that a man in his 60s had been stabbed. He is currently in hospital in a stable condition. A man and woman, both in their 30s, sustained minor injuries in the same incident.

Merseyside Police confirmed today that Gerry Anketell, 37, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted murder, assault by beating and common assault.

Mr Anketell appeared at South Sefton Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where he was remanded in custody. He will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday 18th of March.
