Police are appealing for information after a collision between a van driver and a 15-year-old boy who was riding an electric bike and sustained serious injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
The police are urging people to avoid the Alderwood Avenue, which is located between the junction of Oldbridge Road and East Dam Wood Road in Speke, while forensic examinations are being conducted.
Sergeant Roads Policing Jed Ferguson said: “I would like to make it clear that police were not involved in a pursuit with the electric bike prior to the incident. Officers arrived at the scene soon after the collision was reported to us.”
The electric bike in question had been removed from the scene by an unknown person before police arrived and they are appealing for it to be returned.
“We urge that person to return it to assist in the investigation so we can provide the boy’s family with answers.”
The police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information to get in touch and assist with their enquiries.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area to search their conscience and get in touch with us.
“If you live in the area or were driving past at the time, please review your CCTV/dashcam footage to see if you captured anything, even if it appears small or insignificant, as it could be vital to our investigation.”
