Merseyrail have advised commuters this morning to find alternative transport arrangements after suspending all trains.

Posting on X this morning, Merseyrail said: “Due to heavy snow and ice, train services across the Merseyrail network are currently suspended. We advise all customers wishing to travel to find alternative transport arrangements. We will provide regular updates throughout the day and are working hard to restore services.”

Following a Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice, Merseyrail revealed early this morning that it had activated its “Cold weather plan,” causing severe disruption on  multiple lines.

This is the sixth consecutive day that Merseyside has been hit with a weather warning, with services on the Merseyrail network being effected every day, along with schools and traffic.

MerseyNewsLive will be announcing further updates throughout the day.
